"Animal Collective will be the kneejerk comparison – though Young Dreams has only heard a few of the band’s songs – but the band’s influences go deeper than those of their Brooklyn peers. “I'm a big fan of the harmonies and arrangements of the romantic period of classical music,” says Tellez. “I love composers like Edvard Grieg and Stravinsky. But I’m also heavily inspired by people like [lounge music pioneer] Martin Denny and [Argentine composer] Waldo de los Rios.”

Expectations - single version by Young Dreams

Young Dreams, led by composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Matias Tellez, is a 12-piece Norwegian Dream/Tropical Pop collective, and a recent signee to Modular People. Their debut album will be released sometime in 2012 via Modular Recordings. The first two 7" singles from Télle Records are also available on Flake Records (Japan). The band features his brother Pablo and various members from Casiokids, The Megaphonic Thrift and Bloody Beach.
