A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935)

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" 1935

Directed By Max Reinhardt and William Dieterie
Music: Felix Mendelssohn / re-orchestrated by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

"A Dream Comes True: The Making of An Unusual Motion Picture"

Promotional film about the making of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - the Max Reinhardt film from 1935. This little film includes the only known footage of Erich Wolfgang Korngold playing the piano. It also manages to avoid showing any scenes with Shakespearean dialogue - Warner Brothers Studio was terrified it would put people off from seeing the film. Unique scenes of Reinhardt rehearsing and film of the Hollywood premiere on October 16 1935 complete this fascinating glimpse of movie history.  (via BRENDANGCARROLL)

Fur Hood are the experimental pop band from Glasgow, consisting of Adam Campbell (bass and guitar), Adria Stutter (vocals) and Laurie Pitt (drums).

"Showing the kind of calculated petulance that you would expect of teenage boys expressing themselves in music, Fur Hood gave a rambling and unfocussed performance that suggested they might benefit from the purchase of a sat-nav to guide their songs from start to finish in a timely manner."

Deerhunter - Revival

"...always being fascinated with the ephemera of 70's – 80's artrock in record stores like Wuxtry in Athens where I hung out as a kid or Wax 'N Facts in Atlanta. You'd see a photocopied faded B-52's flyer next to a poster for Lou Reed or XTC. It was like an artpunk scrapbook on those walls. It made my head spin. Who are these people? Who are the fucking Residents with these weird-ass eyeball faces?"
