In Spring 2011 we were invited to perform a live soundtrack to a film at a temporary cinema in Hackney, East London. The film was Kenneth Anger's 1960's cult classic Scorpio Rising and perform a live soundtrack we did. On July 1st, after many long hours perfecting the art of playing along to the film without getting distracted by the leather and the mustard, we played 12 new arrangements of the massive pop hits that appear on Anger's original soundtrack. --Peggy Sue

CULTS PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE "The Cults Percussion Ensemble must have one of the best group names of all time. To many it will immediately come across as something sinister, a touch spooky and possibly a bit dramatic too. They are certainly two of those but the use of the word “Cults” here is easily misinterpreted. Cults, in this case, is the suburb of Aberdeen. I’m going there next week in fact, with a strange costume.
This is the only album by the group. Assembled by percussion teacher Ron Forbes in 1976, the average age of the students was just 14. They came from a few of the schools in the area, including the Cults Academy, Ellon Academy, Aboyne Academy, Inverurie Academy and Powis." --Jonny Trunk "Cults Percussion Ensemble" (LP/CD/Digital) Order, HERE, via Trunk Records.

“I wanted to make a record that could make you feel less alone, like someone else has been there before you,” Stamey explains. “I was thinking about records like The Ballad of Todd Rundgren and Nick Drake’s Bryter Layter and Robert Wyatt’s “At Last I Am Free” and Richard Thompson’s "Small Town Romance." Those are all records that were a source of comfort to me at various points in my life." --Chris Stamey
