Big Troubles - Misery  from "Romantic Comedy"


Big Troubles' upcoming 7" single 'Sad Girls' b/w 'Phantom' is due out on August 30th and their second full-length "Romantic Comedy" is due out on September 27th via Slumberland Records / Plancha (jp), 日本盤はボーナス・デモ・トラック3曲を追加. "Romantic Comedy" was recorded with producer Mitch Easter formerly of Let's Active and Sneakers with Chris Stamey (of the dB's), and as a producer, well known for his work with R.E.M, Pavement, Velvet Crush among others. The single's B-side 'Phantom' was recorded for the Shaking Through sessions curated by Jenn and Liz Pelly, the twin sister co-authors of PellyTwins.blogspot.com.

Twin Sister - Bad Street

'Bad Street' is taken from Twin Sister's forthcoming debut full-length album "In Heaven," the follow up to their 2010‘s "Color Your Life" EP.  "In Heaven" is due out on September 26th (Rest of the world) / September 27th (US) via Domino. It was produced by the band, recorded and mixed by Brian McTear and Jonathan Low (Miner Street Recording, Weathervane Music Organization/Shaking Through), they worked for Twin Sister's 'Meet the Frownies' for Shaking Through series (2010). Also, ‘Meet the Frownies‘ is now appeared on The Luyas / Twin Sister split 7" via Dead Oceans.

Curated by Jenn and Liz Pelly of The Pelly Twins. Recorded on March 5 and 6, 2011, produced by Brian McTear, engineered by Jonathan Low at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia. The Video was produced by Peter English, with camera work by Ian Markiewicz, and edited by Mike Plunkett.


Big Troubles - Phantom

Alex, Ian, Sam and Luca arrived the night of March 4. The next two days would prove to be an amazing first recording experience in a high-end studio. Their song, "Phantom," was the first full band recording since the album, Worry. 


Big Troubles' latest full length "Worry" has been available on Olde English Spelling Bee and Plancha (Japan, plus 8 bonus tracks).  'Phantom' will be appeared on the flip-side of their first single for the forthcoming 2nd full-length produced by Mitch Easter!, released by Slumberland Records in fall 2011.

Twin Sister - Meet the Frownies

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 – Vol. 1, Episode 8 in the Shaking Through 2010 Series features Twin Sister. The project is curated and produced by Shaking Through Guest Curator, Mark Schoneveld of YVYVNYL. "Meet the Frownies" was recorded on June 29 - 30 2010. The song was produced by Brian McTear, engineered by Jonathan Low (with additional help from Amy Morrissey) at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia. The Video was produced by Peter English, directed by Andrew David Watson, and edited by Bryan Baker. Additional photo and video by Peter English.


Twin Sister’s first physical release via Domino, "Vampires With Dreaming Kids / Color Your Life" (coupling debut EP + its follow up EP) is available now.  This fall Twin Sister are setting out on the road with The Morning Benders, Cults, Oberhofer and Devendra Banhart and the Grogs, also goes to Europe.

Vol. 1, Number 5 in the Shaking Through 2010 Series features Seth Kauffman's enigmatic Floating Action. The project is curated and produced by Shaking Through Guest Curator, Scott McMicken (of the band Dr. Dog). Kauffman and McMicken arranged and recorded "Dead Reckoning" on February 27 and 28, 2010. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 – Vol. 1, Number 4 in the Shaking Through 2010 Series features a one time pick-up band of familiar faces called The Man Suits (mems. of MeWithoutYou, BC Camplight, Dr. Dog, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, and featuring Charlie Hall and the Silver Ages). The project is curated and produced by Shaking Through Guest Curator, Scott McMicken (of the band Dr. Dog), who assembled the group to perform one of his songs, “Spirit, Oh Spirit”. Recorded by Jonathan Low and Amy Morrissey, and mixed by Low and McMicken at Miner Street Recordings. Video Produced by Brian McTear and Andy Williams. Coming April, May and June, 2010: three Shaking Through projects curated by Scott McMicken of the band Dr. Dog. The first project, The Man Suits (mems. of MeWithoutYou, BC Camplight, Dr. Dog, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, and featuring Charlie Hall and the Silver Ages) is a pick-up band of familiar faces performing Scott's song "Spirit Oh Spirit". Weathervane Music, the non-profit music organization Brian McTear founded in early 2009, partnered with WXPN, the non-commercial radio station from the University of Pennsylvania. Weathervane’s mission is to support and advance the work of great independent musicians.  Brian is a musician, record producer and studio owner from West Chester who currently works and lives in Philadelphia. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Weathervane Music, and the owner of Miner Street Recordings in Fishtown.  "Shaking Through" (named after an early REM song) is the series of music and video project, partnering with XPN.

Sonoi is a trio from Chicago featuring Adam Busch (Manishevitz), Ryan Hembrey  (Pinetop Seven, The Lofty Pillars, Manishevitz, Edith Frost) and Pierce Doerr.
