Spare Machine - The Ballad of Barry O (from “Hit or Miss”)

Spare Machine - Breakdown Routines (from "Hit or Miss")

"This collection of songs is largely made up of demos that were recorded, for the most part, quickly and poorly by Mark Janka (Spare Machine, the Lesser Birds of Paradise). These recordings feature much audible noise floor, questionable writing, and awkward delivery. There are some some rather nice moments as well. The two outtake tracks from Lesser Birds of Paradise's A Suitable Frame sessions were properly recorded."

Songs In The Key Of Bob - Under The Influence Of Guided By Voices

This limited pressing 7" compilation "Songs In The Key Of Bob - Under The Influence Of Guided By Voices" is the first release from Hibernator Gigs, a record label, a video production outfit out of Charlottesville, VA. It features seven original songs written and recorded in the style of Guided By Voices, including The Invisible Hand, Moore Brothers. Artwork by Thomas Dean. Out on April 30th.

"The origin of the comp began in a dusty library warehouse sometime in 2011. Adam Brock (The Invisible Hand), who happens to be a member of several of the bands featured on the comp, was employed in said warehouse sorting books. To stave off boredom he began to imagine the elaborate titles of the theses and journals he came across as though they were the titles of some lost classics by his low fi heroes, Guided By Voices. He made a list of his favorite titles, such gems as Cream of the Jesters and Viet Cong Motivation, and sent the list out to some of his favorite bands. The rules were simple: find a title that inspires you and write a GBV inspired song, no longer than two minutes, then record it using a four or eight track cassette recorder, in order to truly capture the GBV aesthetic." --Hibernator Gigs Records

Edited by Johan Kugelberg, Paul Major and Michael P. Daley

Enjoy The Experience begins when the custom pressed American record plant came into existence and ends, largely, with the birth of the CD. As such, it is a snapshot of America in the second half of the 20th century and manages to collate a bevy of tales and albums released by the brave souls who took the plunge and committed their musical vision to wax in the fifty states between the years of 1958 and 1992.

Packaged as a hardcover, and weighing in at 512 pages, it is the seventh major book by Johan Kugelberg, the author and editor behind The Velvet Underground: New York Art, Born In The Bronx and Punk: An Aesthetic (Rizzoli), True Norwegian Black Metal (Vice), and Beauty Is In The Street (Four Corners). Enjoy The Experience is the first publication by Sinecure Books, co-owned by Eothen "Egon" Alapatt (Now-Again Records) and Johan Kugelberg. The book is co-edited by legendary record collector Paul Major and Michael P. Daley.
