Jozef Van Wissem & Jim Jarmusch

Jozef Van Wissem & Jim Jarmusch - Concerning The Entrance In To Eternity (via)

“Concerning The Entrance In To Eternity” is a new collaborative album between the well-known American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch (also known as a keyboardist/guitarist for his band, formerly Bad Rabbit and now called Sqürl and early 80′s NYC No Wave band the Del-Byzanteens) and the Dutch composer and lutenist Jozef Van Wissem (also known for the Brethren Of The Free Spirit, a collaboration between British guitarist James Blackshaw and Wissem). This project began when Jarmusch was looking for a soundtrack score for his upcoming vampire film "Only Lovers Left Alive" starring Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Mia Wasikowska, and Tom Hiddleston. And the three titles on the album was named after christian mystic Emanuel Swedenborg's work. "Concerning the Entrance into Eternity" is now available via Important Records.

“The titles of the songs are Swedenborgian mostly,” said van Wissen, referring to the religious movement that developed from the teachings of Swedish scientist, philosopher, and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg, who, after a spiritual awakening, claimed he could visit heaven and hell and speak with angels, demons, and other spirits. Van Wissem said that he had been reading a lot of Swedenborg, and took “like a sponge” to the mystic’s language. “It’s funny,” Jarmusch said, “because he’s like a Swedenborg freak, and I’m a William Blake freak. And he’s a William Blake fan, and I’m a big Swedenborg fan. So we mix our mystics.”
